The Opening Ceremony was attended by Dr. Abdullah Al Nagar representative of HE Sheikh El Azhar, The Grand Sheikh of Al Azhar Doctor Mohamed Sayed Tantawy, and Dr. Hassan Shafik representative of Prof. Dr. Hamed Samaha, Chairperson of The General Organization for Veterinary Services, Sheik Ali Abdul Baky – The General Secretary of The Islamic Research League “, Shiek Fawzy El Zefzaf – Former Deputy of Al Azhar Institution and Dr. Mustafa Abdul Aziz – the chairman of the Egyptian Vet Syndicate., representatives of government agencies, Water and Environment Police, Mubarak Police Academy and non-governmental organizations for animal welfare from England ,Austria, United States, and Egypt as well as many animal welfare societies from Arab Countries.
HE Mr. Abdul Fatah Mossa Jordanian Minister of Agriculture representative of HRH Princess Alia Al Hussien who chaired the second day sessions.
There were “lively” discussions and debates, as one would expect (and hope for) at such a conference. It was wonderful to see so many young people so actively involved. The array of presentations included those by NGOs, as well as by religious and government officials. Yes, there were some rough edges and glitches, but all agreed that for a pioneering conference, things went well. The understanding and flexibility.
The conference adopted many recommendations which will be presented to the Al Azhar institution who, will indorse it and forwarded to all Islamic bodies national and international.
It is hoped that these recommendations will help and end the suffering of the animals destined for slaughter and transport.
Thanks to all the participants and sponsors who made this conference possible.
